Born and raised in China, I moved to the U.S. at the age of eighteen. After completing my degree in creative nonfiction writing in 2017, I’ve been working on a collection of personal essays about my cross-cultural coming-of-age story and teaching in the English department at Hunter College.

As a bilingual speaker, I am particularly interested in how creative and critical writing can empower our voices and enrich our thinking. As an educator, I am passionate about helping students from diverse language and cultural backgrounds practice academic writing and research skills.

I’ve taught various courses at Hunter College, including expository writing, creative writing seminars, and studies in children’s literature. In my curriculum, I often select contemporary academic and literary texts for reading and writing assignments and lead class discussions with special attention to rhetorical analysis, argumentative essay writing, and creative writing techniques.

I read, write, and sip my morning coffee while listening to podcasts. I live in Murray Hill/Kips Bay with my husband and our large goldendoodle, Potato. We often take long strolls and play soccer on weekends.
